Creating A Local Community Abroad
The Association of Dutch Business People is an organization based in Singapore who aims to unite the Dutch business community in this nation. Through the years, communication has been through flyers, events , word of mouth etc but a centralised online portal for members to connect does not exist. Akimi was picked to build the web portal for the organization. With the web portal, the association would better be able to connect with it’s members. Some of the features includes an online forum for members to interact, online events sign up functionality, pages to download articles, content etc
Streamlining Events Registration Process
One of the common activities that ADB does for its members is to organise interesting events that will benefit the community. In this web portal, we actually created an events registration function whereby members are able to indicate their interest for a particular event online and this can be reflected in a backend admin system for the staff to know of the member’s attendance. On the day of the event, the attendance list can be extracted out in excel to ensure smooth registration. The staff can also toggle between “Members Only” events and events that are open to the public. Again, this makes organising events much more easier for ADB.
Integration with Stripe Payment Gateway
Collecting membership payments on an annual basis has always been a chore for ADB. It was also a hassle to know who was the past, current and alumni members of the organization. With the online portal, we can now accept online payment through a service provider called “Stripe” (https://stripe.com/). With Stripe, payment collection is automated for each sign up and also annually. The online payment gateway has saved ADB many hours in administrative work.
