Improving The Overall Conference Attending Experience

National University of Singapore sought to upgrade the overall experience for attendees at their conferences. The main challenge was providing up to date information to their attendees. Akimi Technologies created a mobile application for NUS ClaSic 2014, a conference held by the University to enable the attendees to have full information on the conference at their finger tips. The application seeks to increase overall experience for the attendees and to reduce operational and logistical costs for the organisers to achieve the best balance of cost and value for the organisers and attendees.

Communication Challenge During Conference

NUS recognised that attendees had difficulty connecting to the internet during conferences due to the poor WIFI coverage. Brochures were also a hassle to be printed and distributed. Furthermore, information about the speakers and sessions were greatly limited by the little space each brochure allowed for. Other problems the conference faced included the difficulty of taking notes during seminars and to locate relevant guests to speak to during the event.

Improving the Experience

Akimi Technologies created a mobile application for the conference attendees, which does not require connection to the internet. The application acts as a virtual brochure, bringing together all relevant information about the conference. It also boasts a note-taking feature which allows attendees to take notes and to email them quickly, if necessary. Attendees can also use the application to contact relevant persons that they desire to meet prior to the conference.
